If you needed proof that interval runs work and should not be skived, here it is.  I shouldn't, really, having seen them work in the past, but I do hate them so, and it's therefore reassuring to find my memory of their impact is not imagined.

Improving the pace you can reach and sustain when you push yourself really does naturally improve what just happens naturally, if you let it, without thinking about it.  Yes, when you hit an uphill bit, you need to push on to keep yourself moving at a decent (i.e. noticeable) rate, but just going out for a light jog, you find yourself moving along at a better speed than you used to.

So, following yesterday's fartlek, this is the most productive half-hour run I've managed to date.  Which means I can go to the wedding this afternoon and eat like a pig, thank you so very much, even if I can't drink cos I'm driving.  Doubly so as I have actually managed to lose weight this week - not enough, however, to fit in the suit I wore to a job interview just 4 months ago.  Hey ho.

I should be doing a full hour tomorrow.  While I am hopeful of completing this fairly comfortably, I'm not sure I'll see a continued improvement in pace as this will be the third run in 3 days and this usually doesn't go that well.  Time for the foam roller now on those sore bits from yesterday - and a few more that have appeared today, which may not be accessible to that kind of therapy. Nuff sed.
